The «Quarterdeck Summer Bar» is located in the harbour of Basel and as the name implies, is a meeting place for the hotter months of the year. Inspired by a variety of destinations, the Quarterdeck’s home-made drinks take you on a trip around the world. You can also enjoy classic and non-alcoholic drinks on the wooden deck.
The brief: Sea travel, summer vibes and vintage maps should be included in the brand design without it appearing old-worldly.
Our solution: The quarterdeck is the most elevated area of the upper deck behind the mainmast. On warships only the captain, officers and midshipmen were allowed to stay there. Matching the name of the bar, we hooked captain James Cook up with some sunnies, which not only made him much cooler but also contemporary. In addition, the bright colours help the desired summer vibes. When creating the logo, we were inspired by old hand-painted boat names.
